DirecTv Swm: Things You Must Know!

If DirecTv satellite dish signal had to be broken into any parts to cater to distinct tuners, it was considerable to use a hardware that can successfully achieve such a split. This hardware is the DirecTv Swm. Swms or Single-wire multi-switches are basically switching devices that can be used to control many DirecTv satellite tuner or receivers simultaneously. Positive switches can deal with more than 100 satellite receivers.

DirecTv Swm: Things You Must Know!

DirecTv Swm: Things You Must Know!

Prior to the coming of DirecTv Swm, lines had to be run to every single location. So a dedicated line had to be sent to Power a home's tuner or receiver. With the use of DirecTv Swm, the extra bulk n dedicated lines could be eliminated because a single line could run into the hardware and can be split to as many new signals as required. This is one of the customary advantages that DirecTv Swm offers because otherwise users would have to make way in their homes for extra lines, which can get involved if not managed properly. an additional one piquant feature that DirecTv Swm offers is that, it combines cable service and off-antenna service into the DirecTv signal. The benefit of this feature for the user is that they can fast switch over in the middle of Cable Programming, DirecTv Satellite Signals and Hd off-air.

Implementation of DirecTv Swm

In order for sound implementation of DirecTv Swm, what is required is a satellite dish that is compatible with Swm. Dishes that are compatible with Swm comprise 5Lnb and 3Lnb. It is also considerable to have a Swm compatible receiver and there are many receivers ready that can be used with Swm such as Hr20-100 straight through Hr20-700, H22-100 straight through H22-700, 22-100 straight through R22-700 and much more. The amount of routers that can be routed to a receiver depend on the Swm configuration. Regularly Swm can receive up to four lines from the satellite dish. In a Swm-8 configuration, you can find six satellite configurations. This configuration also has flex ports that can be used with cable programming.

The distance in the middle of the Swm and the satellite dish can be for up to 40 feet. When receivers are connected to the Swm, the distance in the middle of the receivers should be 300 feet. If the amount of receivers is four, the distance should be a maximum of 250 feet in the middle of receivers. So, what is to be noted here is that as the amount of receivers enhance, the distance becomes shorter.

A Brief History of Directv

Perhaps the most favorite satellite supplier in the United States, Directv® has a long and impressive history under its belt. So, just who is Directv? And how did they get to where they are today?

Directv - The Early Years

Satellite as we know it today certainly started back in 1984, when Hughes Electronics gained Fcc approval to build and operate a direct broadcast satellite system, or Dbs. The satellite Directv-1 was launched on December 17, 1993 and in 1994, Hughes Electronics founded Directv and premiered the first North American offering of Dbs service. Often called the "minidish", this new satellite dish was considerably smaller than what consumers were used to - roughly 18 inches in diameter - and much more manageable than those large, cumbersome Tvro satellite dishes from our past.

Along with its sleek and covenant look, the minidish brought consumers a new way of receiving satellite television transmissions. Older Tvro dish systems were analog only and based on open standards equipment. Minidish systems on the other hand, were digital, offering clearer video and Audio, and were operated on a closed law that required extra reception equipment. Tvro systems were also mobile, a needful feature to allow them to pick up transmissions from many satellite systems, while minidish systems are stationary and received all of their programming from one definite satellite. In August of 1994, Directv launched its second satellite, Directv-2 and boasted one million subscribers at the end of the year.

Directv - Full Steam Ahead

In 1995, Directv authorized Toshiba and Uniden to begin manufacturing Dbs systems. Committing to 0 million in advertising, Directv ready for the staggering subscriber growth and launched their third satellite, Directv-3 in July.

In 1997, Directv launched Directv-6 and in 1998, with over 4 million subscribers, Directv Satellite entered into an bargain to purchase its partner, Us Satellite Broadcasting for over .3 billion in stocks and cash. The merger provided Directv customers with passage to Ussb's premier movie broadcasting, addition channel selection from 185 to 210. In July, Directv invested 0 million in Xm satellite Radio.

1999 brought even more growth when Directv acquired Primestar, Inc. And their 2.3 million subscribers. As part of the transaction, Directv inherited Primestar's satellite assets - specifically, 11 transponders and two satellites - giving them high-Powered Dbs frequencies to Supply full coverage of the continental United States. In addition to the Primestar acquisition, Directv launched a new satellite of their own, Directv-1R on October 10th.

By 2001, Directv Satellite had gained over 10 million subscribers and in October, announced it's intention to merge with it's prime competitor, EchoStar Communications, the parent enterprise of Dish Network. In November, Directv joined with Music selection and Wink Communications to announce a new interactive music business aid that would allow consumers to purchase a Cd of the song they were listening to directly straight through their remote control. This 24/7 feature was launched in September of 2002.

The merger with EchoStar's Dish Network fell straight through in 2003 and later that same year, general Motors sold their controlling interest of Hughes Electronics to News Corporation. 2003 also saw the introduction of a new high-definition video recorder from Directv and TiVo as well as a second-generation model straight through a partnership with Philips. This was also the second year in a row that Directv was named #1 in customer aid by Jd Powers & Associates.

On November 11, 2003, Directv enjoyed its 12 millionth customer milestone.

Directv - Today

Today, Directv offers aid to more than 14 million subscribers in the continental Us as well as the one million plus subscribers in Latin America. It remains the top ranking consumer satellite supplier and continues to expand its offerings straight through high-definition and extra interest packages such as Nfl Sunday marker and Total Choice® movable programming.

What does the time to come hold for Directv?

With four new satellites staggering by the end of 2007 and exclusive Dvr sneak previews of high-ranking premium broadcasting, Directv continues to push the envelope and expand the definition of satellite television entertainment. What will be next for Directv?

If history offers any clue, it's sure to be big!

The next higher plan is America's Top 60 Plus, which is basically the same as the Top 60 but with the addition of the customer's local Regional Sports Networks. The next plan is proclaimed to be Dish Networks most favorite plan and is called America's Top 120, which as you would expect has 120 distinct channels of entertainment style programming. America's Top 180 is the programming plan that offers 60 further channels of programming for consumers to enjoy. ultimately Dish Network offers it's America's prime Pak, which is its prime plan offering many more additions to the Top 180 plan.

Although it looks like both satellite clubs differ greatly the truth is many of the programming channels are the same in the middle of the two satellite Tv providers. As person who has received programming from both clubs I can personally say that both offer splendid buyer service, great prices, fast factory and similar programming. The biggest difference for me was the sports programming that both providers offer.

In my opinion DirecTv has an edge in this category. Although Dish Network does offer the opportunity to receive regional sports programming it unfortunately can't compete with the sports programming packages that DirecTv offers its customers. The Nfl Sunday marker is by far one of the premier draws for DirecTv customers and although Dish Network does offer more movie programming plans it plainly doesn't have the programming to match the many distinct sports linked channels offered by Direct Tv.

How Does DirecTv Satellite Technology Work?

First of all, unlike earlier satellite communications which relied on a motorized dish to chase the movable satellites over the sky, contemporary satellites are placed into a geosynchronous orbit about 37,000 km (22,300 miles) up. This means that they always remain above the same point on the earth's surface. That way, all dishes on the earth can be pointed at a fixed location, and the satellite will always be there.

The signal to be broadcast originates at an "uplink center", which collects nationwide programming from cable television networks and local programming from broadcast networks and encrypts it so that the programming cannot be intercepted by non-paying users. The uplink installation uses a huge dish, 9 to 12 meters (or 30 to 40 feet) wide, to accurately send a high-strength signal to the orbiting satellite.

The satellite, in turn, converts the signal to a separate microwave frequency band, so that the downlink doesn't cause interference with the uplink. The two most base frequencies used in United States satellite tv broadcasts are the "C-band" (4 to 6 Ghz) and the "Ku band" (12 to 18 Ghz).

How Does DirecTv Satellite Technology Work?

After traveling more than 50,000 miles, and being converted in between, the signal that arrives at the receiving dish on the face of the consumer's home is fairly weak. It is focused by a bowl-shaped parabolic dish onto a gadget in the center called a "feed horn", which channels the signal to a "low-Noise block downconverter" (Lnb) which filters out unwanted interference, and sometimes converts it to yet other frequency before amplifying it and sending it to the satellite receiver box inside the house through a coaxial cable.

The satellite receiver box converts the signal to an analog television, Audio or data signal. The receiver may be qualified to decrypt the coded signal itself, or it may wish a separate box or a "smart card" plug-in (either to the receiver box or to the television to perform the decoding. A singular receiver can serve only one television or computer; manifold receivers must be purchased to provide signal to manifold devices, along with Watching one channel and recording on another.

Many receivers also include integrated digital video recorders (Dvr), allowing them to rewind and pause live television, and to description and store their favorite shows on a built-in hard drive. There are also expanding numbers of high-definition television (Hdtv) satellite receivers and Dvrs available.

Newer technologies being integrated into the theory include pay-per-view functionality, interactive television channels, and video-on-demand (Cod) channels.

The competition for between satellite tv providers, and between satellite and cable providers, is quite fierce. The advantages of being the first to provide new features are driving the pace of invention among satellite technology providers, so we can expect to see many more breakthroughs in the near future.

The hereafter of DirecTv and Satellite Tv in normal

Review

Satellite television is at least customary to most consumers. Even if you subscribe to a cable provider (why would you do that?), you are at least customary with the business names DirecTv and Dish Network. Are these companies a good investment? Because, like it or not, your television programming is an investment. If you do not make some form of monetary speculation in television programming (read as subscription), then you will not be able to take advantage of said programming.

Strangely, or not so strangely, television has become one of the bonds that hold our society together. You'll find groups of people banding together to discuss what they Watched on television, as a shared experience. Visualize two sports fans heatedly conversing over the outcome of the last big game. Mentally photograph three office workers discussing the bizarre developments in their beloved soap opera. Like it or not, television programming has become a societal adhesive, one of the glues, if you will, that binds our diverse nation together with base views and shared experience.

Now, the semantics aside, your choice in television programming will influence your ability to interact with and be a part of these groups. So, now your choice in television programming takes on an entirely new aspect. That said, why spend with a satellite provider? simply because they offer more of the shows that you want to Watch and that you want to discuss with your friends. Maybe your choice in programming is so that you can interact with your office companions, from a desire to know firsthand what they are talking about.
